Just last week, we had a customer who had cut off his thumb while attempting to replace his garage door springs himself. We are not quite sure how or why he was placing his thumb between the cable and the cable drum. The springs slipped, and there was a violent release of the spring tension onto the torsion assembly which caused the garage door cable to suddenly tighten, and it sliced through his thumb. He spent approximately $10,000.00 on the surgery to have his thumb sewn back on. Additionally, he incurred the cost of having us come to his home and correct the repair to the garage door, not to mention the cost of ongoing doctors visits and therapy.”
Homeowners should only allow their garage door or garage door opener to be worked on by trained technicians who are employed by reputable companies. Routine service and maintainence are a few dollars spent now that can save big dollars in the future.
